Hubs and I decided to forgo Valentines gifts this year and we snatched up a couple of flights down to the big easy for the party of the year! Hubs and I have been lucky enough to have been to New Orleans on multiple trips! My bestie even got married in St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson square!! She had a second line band lead us from the church through blocked off streets playing music and cheering all the way to the reception site!! It was incredible! My Bestie Tara and her hubs live in Baton Rouge and they are going to be our hosts for what is sure to be an amazing weekend!! I couldn't be more excited, seeing my bestie and going to mardi gras all in one weekend-my head is going to explode!!! Being with locals I know we will get to see the most amazing parades (with the best throws) and eat at the best places, and drink the best daquaris! I know hubs is dying for a shrimp po' boy from mothers and I cannot wait to get a huge feather boa(not sure why but everytime I go to NOLA I come home with one, which has stained whatever shirt I am wearing, but I continue to buy them). It is one of the few places in the world that you look completely normal walking around with a huge feather boa and a cocktail during the middle of the day!

This is my Besties actual second line (she is in the beautiful white wedding dress-duh!) Note the beer sign on the right side of the street!

I dont know who he is but he looks like a lot of fun!

I get a picture with one of these guys every time I go, and I still think it is just as funny

Now onto the bigger questions..... What to wear????? My biggest concern is obviously shoes. There is tons of walking, and lets just say that being a shrimp isn't really conducive to wearing flats! Maybe some dresses with flat boots? I was really hoping not to wear anything that I would be to upset about if it got ruined. Our first trip to NOLA years ago, Hubs got an entire hurricane dumped on his brand new white shirt (by a friend) so I have learned my lesson. Any Suggestions??? What about a cheap pair of flats?? Where to buy?? I need your help please!
Hope you are all having a fabulous day!

SOOOO EXCITED FOR YOU! I know you'll have a blast! I used to go to the Mardi Gras every year as a child - so many great memories of balls, parties, and monarchs!
I think you should wear something gold - you have gorgeous blonde hair and I truly think gold would look awesome on you! Oh, and I would go with a wedge of some sort - it'll provide enough stability for you when walking :) Just my thoughts - I'm sure you'll be a knockout in whatever you choose!
Have a blessed day!
My husband's family lives in NOLA and we are going down too! The best advice I can give is to bring two pairs of shoes with you, one you don't care about gettin' New Orleans "street juice" on and one that you can take out of a tote bag to put on to complete an outfit.
There is tons and tons of walking so make sure the ones you don't care about are comfortable! Oh and bring layers...last year I wore a really cute sleeveless yellow top because it was hot during the day, but some of the parades go through the night and it gets chilly!
Have fun and be safe!!! I ohpe you are having a wonderfully blessed Wednesday!

Y'all are going to have so much fun! I am so jealous! One of my best friends is from NOLA as well, love it!
I would recommend going to Target and getting a cheap pair of boots you don't mind getting ruined and wearing them with dresses. You will look super cute and the boots will protect your feet and legs from the streets and other drunk people stepping on your feet. Can't wait to see pictures!
Hahaha That would be AWESOME! But not likely...there are sooo many people down there. But, it would be pretty amazing and I would LOVE it!
You are going to have a blast! I'm not going to lie..I'm just a tad bit jealous! haha! Let the good times roll!

Mardi Gras is going to be "Long" this year, Saints are in the Superbowl!!!
Oh that sounds like such fun! I've gotten cute boots at Target and put dr scholls insoles in them to take some of the pressure off my arches.
